Rules

Field size

Field dimensions are roughly the size of a standard 18-yard box. Goals are 4 ft. x 3 ft.

Rosters and Substitutions
Teams are allowed to have more than 4 players, but all must pay the entry fee ($50) and be rostered. Subs are made on the fly, and the player leaving must exit the field before the sub enters. Substitutions are made at or near midfield. Players can only be rostered on one team.

Coed Teams

Go for it. As long as all players are over 18.

Free Agents

If you're unable to get a team together, you can still register. For $50, we will add you as a free agent. We have a small number of free agent spots available, though, and playing time could be limited, so we encourage players register as part of a team.

Equipment and Uniforms
Turf shoes or cleats are acceptable. Teams are encouraged to wear matching shirts/uniforms. Shinguards are optional.

Game Time
Games are 12 minutes. No halftime. No extra time. Direction of play is determined by Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Goalies

Nope. Players may defend their goal, but may not use their hands.

Offside

There is no offside rule for this tournament, so cherry-pick at your own risk.

Fouls and Misconduct
This is friendly (but competitive) tournament, so play hard but not overly aggressive. You are calling your own fouls, so keep it fair. Rough play could be subject to player dismissal. Also, slide tacking is not allowed.

Free Kicks

After fouls, all free kicks are direct. Opposing players must be at least 5 yards from the ball until the kick is taken.

Ball Over the Sideline
No throw-ins. When a ball crosses a sideline, the team in possession puts the ball back into play with an indirect free kick from where the ball crossed the line. Similar to free kicks, the opposing team must be at least 5 yards from the ball until the kick is taken.

Ball Over the Endline

Goal kicks are indirect and are taken in front of the goal, no further than 5 yards from the goal line. The opposing team must be at least 5 yards from the ball until the kick is taken.

Corner Kicks

Taken from the corner, duh. Opposing team must be at least 5 yards from the kick when it's taken.

Ties

To settle matches that end in a tie in the group stage, we use the highly scientific method of Rock-Paper-Scissors. For games in the knockout stage, we use full-field PKs, followed by Rock-Paper-Scissor, if neither team leads after 4 attempts.
